Travel from Belfast City today to Northern Ireland’s second city – Derry.  The city's history is so complex and its present is so dynamic, that it takes a local expert to explain it all entertainingly and answer your questions. Start your visit to Derry City with a walking tour taking in all of the main sights along the one-mile circuit, including the original Gates - Shipquay, Butcher, Bishop and Ferryquay. The Walls are among the best preserved city fortifications in the Western World. They rise to a height of 8m (26ft) and in places are 9m (30ft) wide. Completed in 1618 to defend the Plantation city, the walls have never been breached in three major sieges - even during the 105 day siege of 1689 when 7,000 of the 30,000 population died of starvation.  Visit the Tower Museum which hosts two major historical exhibitions - the Story of Derry and An Armada Shipwreck - La Trinidad Valencera. The Story of Derry charts the development of the city from its early geological beginnings to the present day, using a range of display techniques such as audio-visuals and interactives. The Armada exhibition tells the story of La Trinidad Valencera, one of the largest ships in the Armada Fleet, which sank off the Donegal Coast in 1588 and was discovered by the City of Derry Sub-Aqua club in 1971. The exhibition features many of the artifacts recovered from the sunken ship on loan from the Ulster Museum. Dominating the skyline on all approaches to the city of Londonderry is Saint Columb's Cathedral, which has stood on its prominent site inside the famous walls of Derry since 1633. Dedicated to the name of Saint Columba (Columb) who established a Christian settlement here in the sixth century. The tower and main building are original. The peal of eight bells is the oldest set in Ireland, presented by Charles 1, in 1638. After some time around Derry City at your own leisure then travel back to Belfast City.

This cathedral stands in the heart of the Ecclesiastical Capital on the hilltop where it is said St Patrick built the first stone Church in 445. Nowadays there are two St Patrick's Cathedrals in Armagh and from the hill you can look across to the twin spires of St Patrick's Roman Catholic Cathedral. Both Cathedrals work closely together as they share the common heritage in the steps and spirit of St Patrick. Travel to Downpatrick to visit the Saint Patrick Centre, an exciting interpretative exhibition which tells the fascinating story of Ireland's Patron Saint. Through Patrick's own words a light is shone on the arrival of Christianity in Ireland and its development through his mission. A series of interactive displays allow visitors to explore how Patrick's legacy developed in early Christian times and reveal the fabulous artwork and metalwork which was produced during this Golden Age. Visit Down Cathedral - a Church of Ireland cathedral – located beside the Saint Patrick Centre. It stands on the site of a Benedictine Monastery, built in 1183.
